MY STORY OF PHILATELY

My name is Andrea Mulinacci and I approached philately at the young age of fourteen back in 1975, by pure chance. In those years, philately was much more widespread than it is now and stamps could be purchased in stationery shops and newsagents; and that’s exactly where on a Sunday morning, while I was going to buy my football players' stickers, I noticed some small packages that contained stamps.

It was love at first sight. Those small paper objects had images of distant countries on them... my curiosity was aroused immediately and I started to appreciate both history and geography more and more from that day on.

After almost twenty years as a collector, attending philatelic circles and commercial conferences, I decided in 1992 to set up my own commercial activity that took the name of A.M. PHIL. In 1999 the first version of our website with online sales was launched.

Through the years I have joined the Chamber of Commerce of Siena as a Philatelic Expert, I was President of the former National Association of Philatelic Merchants, now called National Association of Philatelic Professionals, for nine years and am now the Vice President of it. For several years I was a member of the Council for Philately at the Ministry of Economic Development and the IFSDA Council.

Still today I pursue my activity with passion, adding now the use of modern resources that progress has made available to us.

Personally, philately has given me a lot of satisfaction, first of all that of meeting exceptional people who all share the passion for stamps.
